June A WET MONTH

JUNE has been a wet and soggy month but that hasn't stopped the troop from having fun. We went up to Maine to go canoeing on the Saco River. A couple of us got a little lost, but caught up to the crew a ways down stream. Other than a few black flies and mosquitoes a great time was had by all who attended the trip. The next trip the troop went on was the Hale Reservation backpacking trip in Westwood, Ma. The trip was supposed to be an overnighter , but the weather had other plans. We were still able to get the hike and a little fishing in. The hike was approximately 4.5 miles long and just about everybody caught some fish. I caught 4 fish and ASM Mr Boyle landed a monstrous Perch. ( check out the website for proof )

The Venture Patrol had a meet and greet with Girl scout troop 312 at Hartstuff Park the other night. We discussed a joint trip to Zoar Outdoor Adventures in Deerfield, Ma. The meeting went well, we decided to go on a Zip Line Tour and also go Whitewater Rafting. Both groups are very excited about going, this is going to be an awesome trip. There is going to be a carwash fund raiser on July 18th at Walgreens parking lot ( hope it stops raining by then ) all Venture members are encouraged to attend. If you want to go on this trip contact ASM Mr McLaughlin to get signed up. More info on this trip shortly. Four of our members are going to be attending National Youth Leader Training at Camp Squanto at the end of June they are Mike Collins, Jeff Riccardi, Matt Rakoski and me, Tom McLaughlin. Lets hope it stops raining by then, I know I have had it with the rain. One rank advancement to report, that is Jonathan Beasly has been awarded his Tenderfoot rank. Also Taylor Davidson had his Eagle Board of Review. Way to go Taylor. Congratulations to both of you. Don’t forget to check the website for further trip info and updates.
